Safe Social Networking Society
Safe Social Networking Society is a nonprofit, member-funded organization dedicated to creating a secure and private online environment. Based in British Columbia, Canada, the Society is committed to fostering authentic digital connections free from tracking, data collection, and hidden algorithms.
Founded by a technology veteran with over 40 years of industry experience, the Society advocates and promotes online safety, privacy, and transparency, ensuring that members of the Society can engage in a trusted and protected digital space.
Proudly Canadian
We’re built in Canada, hosted in Canada, and committed to Canadian values — privacy, safety, respect, and transparency.
You can trust that everything we do is guided by the principles that define our Society:
Privacy First: Your data stays in Canada.
Community Driven: Built for real people, not algorithms.
Safe & Respectful: Designed for a better, healthier digital experience.
No Donations Policy
The Society is funded by, and relies exclusively on membership fees.
The Society does not accept charity donations, grants, or subsidies from any private or public organization, or individuals.
Member-Funded
FamilyNet is funded exclusively through membership fees.
We do not rely on advertising, sponsorships, grants, or external funding of any kind.
This ensures that our priorities remain fully aligned with the needs of our members.
No External Influence
Because we do not accept outside funding:
- No advertisers influence what you see
- No sponsors shape platform decisions
- No third parties benefit from your activity
Every decision is made with member safety, privacy, and long-term trust in mind.
Independent by Design
The Society operates independently of both private and public funding sources.
This independence is intentional.
It allows us to build and maintain an environment that is not driven by engagement metrics, data monetization, or external pressures.
Volunteer Leadership
The Founder and Directors of the Society serve on a voluntary basis.
There are no executive salaries tied to platform growth or user activity.
This helps ensure that decisions are made thoughtfully, responsibly, and without commercial pressure.
Technology Contribution
The FamilyNet and VerifiedLink platforms are licensed to the Society at no cost by its Founder.
This allows the Society to focus its resources on operations, security, and member experience - rather than software ownership costs.
Our Guiding Principles
Everything we do is based on a few core principles:
- Members come first
- Privacy is a right, not a feature
- Safety is built into the system - not added later
- No ads, no tracking, no data selling
- Transparency over complexity
We believe that how an organization is funded and governed directly shapes how it behaves.
Safe Social Networking Society is designed to be simple, transparent, and aligned with the people it serves.
Letter from the Founder
Welcome to the Society.
Our mission is simple: to help shape safer, more trustworthy digital environments where people can connect without compromising privacy, security, or dignity.
We believe the challenges we face today are rooted in how these systems are designed. Through our initiatives, we are working to rethink and rebuild them with greater structure, accountability, and trust.
As Founder, I am committed to ensuring this work remains grounded, purposeful, and aligned with the public interest.
I invite you to explore our initiatives and be part of this conversation.
Sincerely,
Amrit Dhillon (www.dhillon.ca)
